Applicants for VES membership must be actively engaged in the production or creation of visual effects or your professional activities are closely aligned with or in service to the field of visual effects for not less than five (5) years, within the last ten (10) years preceding application for membership, unless extenuating circumstances can be proven, or they must have been openly acknowledged for exceptional achievements in or other contributions of merit to the field of visual effects and related arts and sciences, as determined by the Board of Directors. Furthermore, applicants must demonstrate visual effects abilities, a professional reputation and personal objectives which are consistent with the Visual Effects Society's objectives.
Applicants must complete parts 1, 4 and 5 of this application and pay the fee in order for it to count toward the current membership period. Required documentation (Either a resume/CV or complete VFX work history form and letters of endorsement) may be submitted at any time prior to the application deadline. All applicants will be contacted when their initial paid application is received, and any missing documentation will be requested at that time.

Part 1 - Personal Information

Initial applications may be submitted without including the necessary resume/CV or VFX work history, but it must be received prior to the deadline in order to complete the application.
You must include your resume or CV (Only a true resume will be accepted; a PDF of a LinkedIn profile is not a resume). You may also include your complete Visual Effects Work History form in addition to your resume. Print outs, copies, references or links to IMDb.com or other similar website listings are not acceptable and will not be considered as a complete application.
To be eligible for membership, your visual effects work experience must exceed five (5) years within the preceding ten (10) years, as described above. That said, we need your complete work history. Please do not stop at five (5) years.

Part 3: VES Member Endorsements
Initial applications may be submitted without including letters of endorsement from two (2) current VES members, but they must be received prior to the deadline in order to complete the application.
Important: Every applicant must be endorsed by two (2) VES members in good standing, each of whom must submit a letter of recommendation to the VES on the applicant's behalf.

Part 4 - Application Fee
There is an Application Fee of US $200 for the Spring period, or US $100 for the Fall period. Additionally, there is a US $100 NON-REFUNDABLE PROCESSING FEE for either period. The Application fee of either US $200, or US $100 is applied to membership dues, either for the first year for Spring applicants, or the first six (6) months for Fall applicants. If the applicant is denied membership, the Application Fee will be refunded. The total Application and Processing Fees are due upon submission of this application. After submitting this form you will be taken to a page where you may pay by credit card/PayPal, or you may choose to send a check directly to the VES office.
Part 5 - Applicant's Statement and Agreement
The VES is committed to providing an environment in which all members are treated with respect, dignity, and inclusion, and recently adopted a Code of Conduct that formalizes VES values, standards and expectations of personal and professional conduct for our members. Active status of VES membership requires adherence to this Code of Conduct.
